91' Johnson 6hp to 8hp

I've read through prior topics regarding the 6hp to 8hp carb change. On my model J6REIA the manifold ,exhaust ,leaf plate are the same as the 8hp model. (According to part #'s) The carb and the cylinder/ crank appear to be different. If I put a 8hp carb on my 6hp will I get more top end speed or is the different cylinder/crank a deal breaker? Can anyone point me in the right direction ? Thanks for any assistance
 
No one has any experience with this? The 6 and 8 are the same except for the carb and the cylinder/crank. Will I go faster with the 8 hp carb? Thanks
