1996 Mercury 75 low spark won't run

I have a 1996 Mercury 75 that ran just fine but all the sudden cut off and can't get it to crank back have fuel and air plugs are firing but have a very weak spark yellow fire on spark any ideas was thinking cdi or stator also does anyone have procedure how to test these exactly
 
Poor spark on all cylinders is usually indicative of low primary voltage to the switchbox. Pull the flywheel, look for loose magnets, and inspect the stator for burnt windings, cracked insulation, etc.
 
Weak output on all 3 could be: weak cranking speed, weak stator output to switchbox or capacitor failing in switchbox
 
Thanks guys I'm gonna ohm out the stator this afternoon when I get home cranking speed is fine though it spinning the motor over at 400 rpm according to gauge
