Lost prime

I have a 1996 Mercury 150 HP with about 100 hours on it. A lot of my problems that I have had are lack of use. Started to go & went maybe 20 yards and engine paused I let up on the gas and it ran for about 10 seconds. I tried to start & had no luck. I pumped the primer bulb and it never got hard. The bulb and lines were replaced 1 to 2 years ago. Could the bulb have gone bad that fast?

Also when starting for the 1st time, it will turn over but not start. I have the ignition switch that you push in to prime the motor. Fuel pump has been replaced. Is this all related?
Please help because every time I take it out, I drop it at Bass Pro shop going home from the lake to fix it. I don't want to drop another couple of hundred dollars.

Could also be a bad primer bulb check valve. Have you got another line and bulb you could try?

I didn't check the plug. I tried pumping it again yesterday & it still would not firm up.

I am going tomorrow and buy a new fuel line and bulb.

I have been using my boat for quite a few times since it was installed by Bass Pro's shop so don't believe this is the case this time.

Mine worked great as well...until it didn't.
