45 hp Chrysler runs without plugwire??

My 45 hp Chrysler outboard has me guessing. It runs a little rough and not much power, so I start checking. I pull off the # 1 plugwire and she keeps right on running like nothing happned. So I try some things. I exchange the plugwires and try it again, same result. So I exchange the coils, same result. So I pull off the# 2 plugwire. Motor dies....I rry changing sparkpugs, no difference, although the # 1plug looks much dirtier than # 2. It's like # 1 isn't even being used!!! Anybody got a clue??
 
Motor is only running on the # 2 cylinder.-----Do a compression test.----Check for good spark on both leads.---------No model # posted but you may need to pull flywheel to inspect magneto.--One carburetor or 2 ?--Possibly bad points.-----Post your model #
