Hi,
We have recently purchased a narrowboat with a volvo penta twin cylinder engine, 2000 series. It is leaking oil pretty badly from the crank at the rear. Previous owner said we need to just change the crank oil seal to fix the leak. I'd say 2 litres of oil is gone within an hour of tick-over cruising. Could it be more of a problem than the crank seal? Also, finding the right part is tricky, I don't know much about engines at this stage, looks like I'm going to be learning!
Help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
I found a couple of numbers on the engine if that helps, assuming they are the engine numbers:
Bosch PFE 10 70 /40 04 / 4070 005
Bosch PFE 10 70 /36 04 / 4070 004
Thanks for your help
Benny
