1984 Johnson 15 hp no spark either cylinder how to test stator and CD power pack? E15RCRM rope start

Engine running fine, ran for several hours, suddenly quit like kill switch had been held in.

Checked kill switch, it's not shorted or defective.

Down to stator or CD failure since both plugs have no spark.

How do I check the stator (can pull flywheel if required) and what is spec (ohms?)? Ditto for CD unit, how to check/specs?

I've looked at several sources on the web, including here, but can't find details on this unit.

I've just ordered a Seloc manual for the unit, but won't arrive for a while and hoped someone could give me a hint (how many wires from stator?, what wires to check/how on CD) to check them so I can get replacement part(s) ordered.

Thanks

Thanks, I found their PDF before, but it doesn't included my engine's ignition system, but now have emailed them, we'll see what help they can provide.

I disconnected the kill wire at the block, no way I could find to disconnect it at the power pack itself, all wires sealed and/or built into sealable connectors, still no spark.

Not likely the coil is bad, two going simultaneously seem a bit unlikely.

And my post was specifically asking HOW to test the stator and power pack.

Did you disconnect the kill wire at the PP and retest.

I didn't see any way to disconnect it at the powerpack, do the wires in the rubber connectors that seal up come out? I assumed they were sealed in permanently. If so, how do I disconnect the kill wires at the power pack then?

Thanks.

Inspect the stuff under the flywheel visually.-------This stuff is very reliable,---------Install a new powerpack and likely the motor will run again.

Everything under the flywheel looks great, this isn't an electric start motor/no charging system under there, so can't see any reason the stator would fail but worth checking before spending the money on a replacement power pack.

But it is looking like it's the power pack, that's for sure.

Thanks.
