1978 BF 75 Ignition Coil Wires

My wires are shorting . I can see them arcing with the hood removed. Are they replaceable from the coil or is this a one part assembly.

As far as I know, the wires are part of the coil. You may be able to remove the spark plug caps, cut off a small piece of the end of the lead and reinsert it into the cap.

You might just have a bad connection in the spark plug caps.

It is rare, but your head may be grounded well to the block and the spark is jumping to a better ground. If you have much corrosion on the motor, that could be the cause. If you think that is the case, you could just take a wire and run it from a bolt on the head to a bolt on the block. But, like I said, that is a rare case.
