ignition wiring??

I need to replace my ignition on my 91 ASTRO Bass boat with Merc 150.. my current ignition sticks alot and I lost the key...mine has 9 wires coming out of the ignition but most of the replacements I see have only 6 wires... will that work? No markings at on the ignition so I don't know what brand or Make it is..... Looking for advice on how to fix it. Thanks.


 
Ayuh,... Yer lookin' at replacin' the ignition Switch,. not the ignition,.....

You'll get better answers, askin' this in the Mercury Outboard section, rather than this forum,....
 
I agree with Bill. Take this to the Mercury outboard forum for best results.

I will suggest that if the switch now requires 9 circuits, you'd best stay with that.
Or.... learn why there are 9 circuits, and find out if any are doubled up that could be circumvented.

Hit your local mercury dealer with your serial number and they will get you the correct ignition switch. You may pay just a little more, but you will have no problems.
