Auto tach on V4 Xflow?

Since my search for a working period correct tach has been fruitless to date. A buddy gave me this Sun Pro car tach to try. Amazingly it seems to read about right. On the 8 cyl setting that is.

Find out tomorrow if it's anywhere near accurate. Just wondering if anybody'd had any experience trying this?

Wont work correctly as a outboard is 12pole or 6pulses per revolution. A auto tachs run of the distributor and 4 cylinders send 2 pulses, 6 cylinders send 3 pulses, and 8 cylinders send 4 pulses per rotation
