evenrude 1977 115hp problem# I can. not drop lower unit,

Just bought this boat,it has not bin in the water since 1995 and was stored in a carport,and was never in salt water.
I can not drop lower unit to change water pump.It looks as it might be corroded.

Have you removed the hidden bolt under the trim tab ?----------Have you spread the 2 arms behind the lower carburetor to disconnect the shift rod.--------You may have to remove the connecter at the top of the shift rod because it may be tight going down.------------Worst case is the driveshaft rusted into the crankshaft.---If that is the case a small atomic bomb might be required to seperate the lower unit.
