Engine runs then cuts out

Hi, my PCM 5.7 HO V8 inboard runs fine for a couple of minutes and then cuts out. I replaced the electric fuel pump but it still cuts out. Could it be the relay that activates the fuel pump? Where is this located? Any other ideas? Thanks everyone. Andrew

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... At the moment it Dies,....

Is there Power to the positive(+) terminal on the coil,..??

Is the motor carbed, or Efi,..??

Hi Bondo, thanks for your response, yes loads of power to crank and start, runs sweet for a couple of minutes, then coughs and sputters and dies like it's running out of fuel. It's a carby model, quite new and normally runs sweet as anything. I'm thinking its a problem with the power supply to the electric fuel pump...

Not to poke at you but Bondo's question is key....it may very well be as you think but you need to make some measurements to be certain about the cause....could be a few electrical items but it is best to rule out the ignition system first.....you can also put a voltmeter on the fuel pump leads to verify it does/does not have battery voltage when the engine dies..
