temp warning buzzer

I have a 2003 xr6150hp. Today I was running up river about 45 mph. Suddenly I ran through a wad of leaves someone had blown in the river. I knew intakes had stopped up and warning buzzer came on. I shut down immediately and trolled back, 30 minutes. Back at the launch I cranked and motor started peeing and no warning buzzer. At home took the hose and sprayed intakes and cranked motor was fine, should I replace impellar and remove lower unit and clean more with hose?
 
Execellent example for having a water pressure guage vs a temp gauge. With wp guage you could see if pump is at proper pressure and damaged . Since water was shut off to motor for a unknown time I would replace impeller....
