have fitted a mercruiser 4000 gen 11 panel mount throttle/shift control, this has only 1 rocker switch for tilt and trailer, for down one dot on switch, for up and trailer has 2 dots on switch, now is the first press of switch for tilt and second for trailer,or vise versa, the instruction book that came with it makes no mention of it,[the old unit had 2 switches, tilt and trailer]

I believe he's asking which position on the single rocker switch is trim vs trailer. There is only one downward position on the switch. Push it down and the drive will lower all the way. However, when you push up on the rocker, there are two positions. Pushing upwards to the first detent (or dot as you call it) activates the trim circuit where the drive will only raise to the point where the trim limit switch cuts power to the pump. Pushing harder, past the first detent, activates the trailer circuit where the drive raises all the way.

They probably saved $0.125 per unit!!!.... and also made sure that replacing that switch was done only with an OEM switch
