Pcm 5.7 sea maxx ho coil over heating

pcm 5.7 seamaxx ho coil overheating when out on the water,boat quits change it out with a spare & then it starts up & i can drive for 30 to 45 mins, & then it quits again . Any ideas guys ??? Have been checking for any shorts in the wires. Thanks in advance !!!!!!
