Upper motor mounts on a 1996 225 offshore

I had hoped to be on the water by now w/my new to me Mako, but the lower end needed replacing.
When we went to bolt on the new one we found the shift linkage jammed against the case because both the upper engine mounts had broke off at the bolt heads and the motor had slipped back about a 1/2". They appear to be frozen there.
Anybody got any ideas except the obvious of removing everything to get at 2 $9 bolts?
