Fuel filter removal

Hi all

I am new to the forum and there seems to be plenty of knowledge here. I am in the middle of winterising my 350 magnum and have run in to a small problem removing the fuel/water separator filter. When I took the old one off, the threaded metal tube came out with it and I am having great difficulty removing it from the filter without damaging the thread. Has anyone here come across this before?

Thanks

That'll happen occasionally. Drill a 3/16" hole thru the tube about 1/2" down from the end of the tube and insert a screwdriver as a handle to turn the tube out of the filter element. When replacing the tube into the housing, use some red threadlocker.

Be sure to de-burr the drilled hole before reinstalling! Running a threading die or a steel nut of the correct size over the area where the hole was drilled first a good idea also.
