I have a 1976 Mercury 4.5hp that I need to replace the impeller on. I've seen a few videos and read a few posts on this subject but still have one concern. I know there are two bolts to be removed and then the unit should separate. What isn't covered is how the shift linkage is separated and how it goes back together. Is there something that needs to be done to address the removal of the lower unit in regards to the shift linkage shaft?
