I recently acquired a 72 Mercury Thunderbolt 4 hp outboard and it run’s great …. Replaced only the impeller.
The problem is, how are you expected to shut it off. There is no kill switch or off marking on the throttle.
If you know of an off switch or let me, know. I have been using the choke.

Right on, Graham. Those motors--with their dreadfuled Phase Maker ignition--tend to work very well since they don't have a kill switch. (Opening the circuit tends to damage the P Ms.)

One can adjust the idle speed too low, but hitting it with the choke is the smartest way--unless you are through running it for the day. It that case, you should pull the connector and run the carb dry. Good practice with ethanol gas.
