Optimax 135- Water in Fuel Repair

I ran my 1999 135 Optimax at low RPM (under 2000) for about 10 minutes after getting a water in fuel alarm warning. I shut the motor off and never got it restarted. I took the boat to a dealer for evaluation and was told that all three fuel pumps (mechanical, and electrical low and high pressure) are all "frozen". Repair bill- $1960.!! I paid my $95. diagnostic fee and took the boat home. I can't believe a bit of water could cause this type of damage. Has anyone experienced this? Comments? I have the shop service manual and plan to investigate/repair myself.

You need to see if both electric pumps are locked up. on a 99 model they should have individual connectors for each pump. Disconnect both and power them individually. Water can damage these pumps if it sits in there for extended periods of time. In my experiences I Mostly see the low pressure pump fail from water.

I had a problem with water on a 225.
It cost me 2 pumps.$1100
The second one was the dealers fault. But I had to pay for it.
Leaving water in the high pressure side will cause a problem.
Won't take long either.
If it ruined the mechanical pump it must have been in there for a LONG time.
Like Chris suggested test each one separately.
They might not be bad.
Some dealers think they need to replace everything so they don't have any problems when they send it back to you.
