Shear Pin Size

There are two possible sizes (lengths) of drive pins for that motor. Most will have the long one. But there is an optional prop that actually doesn't look like it fits. That one takes the short one, number 309954.

EDIT: Diameter of both is 9/32", something not usually found just anywhere.

the shear pin was a ''shear pin'' before the cushioned props started to appear in the 50,s...it was designed to shear as there was no give to the prop hub...it later became a drive pin....when it was a true shear pin you didnt get in a boat without spares....some people had the pins made out of brass to give a little more protection to the prop and shaft..
 
i knew two guys that were 22 miles back in a louisiana swamp and sheered one....the only thing close to a pin was a rat tail file...they kept breaking off pieces of it and going a little way...they spent the night with the alligators and mosquitoes....they were friends no longer...
