I have a 5hp 2 stroke Yamaha outboard that's about 15 years old. The motor runs pretty well but I'm having a few issues and wondering if anyone has some advice.
1 - The shifter sometimes becomes very stiff. I don't think it has much to do with temperature since there have been warm days when it was stiff. I had a mechanic work on it a year ago and he said he had to disassemble the shaft to fix it, but the stiffness seems to be back.
2 - The throttle cable is sticky, even though I cleaned and lubed it as well as I can without disconnecting the end that leads to the carburetor. I didn't disconnect this end because the cable is splintered and I don't know that I'd be able to reconnect it once disconnected. Is it possible to get a new one of these throttle cables?
