1974 Johnson 85hp thermostat part question

I removed my thermostat to clean it out. The vernatherm was stuck closed. I cleaned and tested it and it works as designed now. My problem is when I removed the Tstat, a seal of some sort came out with it. I don't see it on the parts breakdown. Has anyone had this problem or know where it belongs. Thanks for any help

There are no seals in the thermostat housing. Possibly it washed in from somewhere else in the cooling system??

That appears to be a common garden hose washer; how the heck did it get in your engine?

That's hilarious. I know the previous owner was real cheap with his repairs. I'm assuming they used it as some sort of gasket somehere? I'm sure I'll find out here soon.
