Mercury 50 - 2009 question

Bought my Mercury (2 stroke) & boat 1 year ago. The water spout that's supposed to shoot out never has produced a stream - or even a dribble - when going any speed. The warning horn never has come on & this has been going on for 1 year. I use the boat about 2-3 times each month.
Any help on this ? Thanks, Steve in so l
 
faz - Thank you very much ! I ran a piece of grass trimmer line in and felt a little something. When I put the ear muffs & water on it shot out just right. Getting ready to put the boat for sale. Thanks, Steve in so la
