Water in oil

1988 454cid suddenly I have water in the oil. Boat has not left the slip in a long time, just running engines every couple of weeks for a short time . No over heating. Has anyone had problems with the oil cooler leaking? I have raw water cooling with a oil cooler. Thanks

I think the next most likely is the intake manifold coolant passage. There are sealant areas, that if compromised, will leak water directly into the oil pan.

The intake is off. I did not see any signs of leaking, but the intake would leak into the pan, risers would leak onto cylinders. I will re inspect the intake.

Salt water cooler risers are good for 4 to 5 years, max. If you had some dribble into the cylinder(s), you might see some rust on the spark plug. Really bad, you will see water spitting out the spark plug hole during cranking. If you take off the exh. manifold, you will usually see rust stains in the bottom of one or more exhaust passages.
