Yanmar 3ym30 starter clicking

Hi all,
Hope you can help. 3ym30 with new starter motor just clicks when key turned.
If I short out contacts motor will spin so starter looks Ok. What do I chase next?
 
Bad cable end or battery are the most likely issues. Cables often corrode under the heat shrink where the end lugs are crimped on. Once they corrode they can't carry enough current to turn over the engine. Next guess would be a solenoid issue, but try checking the voltage at the motor terminals when you turn the key to see if it is getting up to 12v etc.
