Fuel Guage/ Switch Problem

Gentlemen or Ladies

I did the unthinkable, & given my trade before retirment, I should have know better, worst than that I have all the materails on hand would have made this a 1 hr +/- project.
So, ! have 2 fuel tanks, 1 Gauge, & a switch, on off on, & for the life of me cannot get it to work, without knowing at the time all I needed was a new switch, I have found the neg from the tanks, as well as sending wire's, but lost getting to switch & gauge, Please Help.

how many wires coming from each fuel tank?see if you can get each tank to measure without using the switch..just see if it works with one sending wire from one tank...then remove the 1st tank sending wire and see if the other tank works..when you know that both tanks work like that them all you need is a single pole double throw switch...hook the gauge to the common pole and each tank sending wire to the other two poles...one wire per pole...if that dont work then meter the switch to make sure you got the right one...
