Hello... i am new here and thought i would give this a shot.
I have a 1998 Chaparral 260 Signature... it originally came with a 5.7 Mercruiser (Vortec) with a 2 barrel carb set up. When i needed to repower i got a 383 stroker long block and set up a 4 barrel carb. She had been running very strong until this weekend. I had the family on board and when i throttled her up she came out great and ran for about 5 min no problem. Then all of a sudden i got an alarm at the same time had a severe power loss. All guages read fine... oil good, no over heat and final drive oil good. I am a bit baffled with this one. I was able to keep it running and did have some power but wasnt nearly as strong as she should be. No issues at all while slowly running down the canal. Any insight greatly appreciated.
