Please Help!! stuck in forward

newbi here i have a inline six 165hp that is stuck in forward gear disconnect the wires to unit still
engaged , crossed the wires for the hell of it no change starts only in neutr.but wont go n or out
stays in forward please help!!! used it less than 9 mnths ago worked fine??
 
drain the lower gear lube and see what comes out.
I suspect you'll be disassembling the lower unit on this issue, but maybe try a good rap on the case with a wood block and hammer. Clutch spring may have rusted in gear if lube is watery.

I was in the same situation as you a long time ago.
drain lower unit fill with a mixture 50% Auto Transmission Fluid 50% acetone let sit for a few days. flush twice or more with some cheap thin oil (hydraulic oil ) works great fill with type C
