Testing BF50 Overheat Switch, Horn, and Warning Light

A friend of mine picked up an older BF50 that appears to have been assembled from parts taken from several different engines. While it runs well, we found several wires disconnected from the harness both at the engine and the control unit.

We would like to test the overheat warning mechanism. The warning light does not light up on the control unit when the ignition is turned on. Is that normal on Honda's? Can someone tell me how to check out the sender, light, and horn so that we know that everything is working OK?

when the ignition switch is on both the lights on the control unit has to come on.

If you want to check the over heat alert system, disconnect the wire from temperature switch and ground it,ignition switch on and that wire is engine body ground you should get overheat beep and light.

temperature switch you can check, open it and check continuity at normal temperature and put it in the hot ( 90'C )water ,normal temp no continuity and hot water (90'C)should have continuity bitween two terminals.
