Honda 9.9 Idles Fast

I just changed the engine oil and lower unit oil. However, when I started the motor it now idles fast. I have made sure the choke is off and the throttle is in the proper position, but it has not made a difference. I cannot find anything in the owners manual about adjusting the idle speed. Can anyone offer some help?

There are a couple of variations of the carburetor for the 9.9 over the years. There is a throttle stop screw on all of them. You just get to them different ways. Some are exposed and easy to see....others are not. Watch the moving lever on the carburetor and there should be a screw that it comes to rest on when the motor is at idle speed. Normally, you can just turn the screw a little counterclockwise and the idle speed should reduce. If it does not, then you may have a binding cable or an air leak at the carburetor base or intake manifold.

Post the serial number if you can not find it and I will see if I can post a link to the proper parts breakdown to get you to it.
