I have a 1990 VIP 1700 2.3, I purchased the boat and checked the oil level. It appeard to have been overfilled. So, I purchased a pump and pumped it all out, and put on a new filter. I got about 5 quarts of oil out of it.
The oil level on the dipstick was zero after this procedure.
I then poured in 4 quarts of oil and now the level is past the full mark. The capacity, as I read, was supposed to be 4-5 quarts. The filter is empty, but the one that I took off was empty as well.
I believe that I am safe, but how should I proceed?
