Had the motor for about a month and then one day out on the water it stopped running and so I paddled back to my house where I found that the oil was milky (water in the oil). I changed the oil a few times to flush out any bad oil and then went to launch it again. The motor ran but wouldn't switch into gears without dying no matter the idle. Took the engine apart to find that the head gasket was blown. I replaced the head gasket and the thermostat which was also old. Also replaced any gaskets I took off getting to the head gasket. Now the engine wont run... any ideas?

Three things come to mind.

1. Since you had to pull the timing belt off, make sure the timing marks line up.

2. Make sure all the wires from the pulser at the cam shaft is connected.

3. Make sure you clipped on your safety landyard.

If none of that works, go back to basics. Check spark and compression.

For all those reading.....whenever taking anything apart that you are not familiar with, take pictures of every step. Always take good pictures before you begin of all the hose and cable routings.

Most important, have a manual and follow the instructions.
