"My Early 90's 40 HP Merc is starting hard and smoking alot. I also notice oil leaking around the oil resevoir, and then runs down onto the boat(Runs down cables at the back of the motor into the well at the back of the boat). I also saw greyish oil residue where the exhaust exits by the prop after running on the river for about 30 miinutes. Once started It runs great, and starts easily, but if it sits a few day it will start hard all over again and smokes like the first start of the season like it was fogged out all over again? Any help would be appreciated.
