I have a problem with my mercury 225 optimax year 2005, the problem is that when I went from 10 minute the boat at 3500 rpm, the alarm is activated, but a friend of mine tells me that it may be the alternator which damaged, because it only reaches 13 v, my question is why can activate the alarm thank you:mad::confused:

Thanks for the help, I'll buy a new alternator, and tell them, if this alarm stops after a while at 3500 rpm, thanks for the help you are to behaved very well and always helps me, another question, what rpm that this engine for cruise should be kept, and not be damaged, thank you

Maximum rpms is 5750 rpm - above that could cause problems.

A good "cruise" rpm should be somewhere in the 3000-3500 range.

The timing is controlled by the engine computer so you are not looking for maximum timing advance like you would with a mechanical trigger, but at that rpm range you will probably maximize fuel economy and have the engine running "open enough" to prevent carbon build-up etc.
