I have a 1981 OMC 140STHRCIF I/O. I recently upgraded to a 3.0L GM Delco Voyager EST marine electronic distributor kit, but am chasing a gremlin. My buddy & I were not able to locate the voltage shunt in the system. Unfortunately, our solution involved bypassing the alternator voltage regulator and we can't have that. Can anyone give me some guidance to locate the voltage shunt so I can remove it and put the wiring back to the way it should be? If I put it back exactly the way that it was, I don't have 12 volts at the coil, so I know there is a limiter somewhere. I really appreciate any help offered.
