Trim tab placement?

I have a question on trim tab placement. I bought a set of Insta-Trim Boat Leveler tabs for my 1995 Celebrity 190BR, The instructions state to mount them 3" from the edge of the boat and 1/4" up from the bottom of the boat, well my problem is there is not enough room for the trim ram at that location as the back of the boat is not flat it is recessed area under the swim deck, the nearest place to the edge I can mount them is roughly 16" from the outside edge, will this still be ok? or will it have some other ill effect. just checking before I start drilling holes!
