need out drive help yes I'm new

As title states I am defiantly a newb to both this forum and boats in general, I recently purchased an 1988 doral bow rider it has a 3.0l omc cobra Long story short big lake, bad weather, new boater and big rock so now I need to replace the stern drive, I have been searching for good interchange info for 3 days and now I apologies but I have to ask here like a new guy The stern drive on my 3.0l omc cobras model number is 983841 I have found one recently for a decent price but it's model number is 985288 it looks identical but just want to confirm with you very experienced omc people Thanks for dealing with my stupidity

those numbers were never really referenced outside the factory. If the drive you found is from a boat with a 3.0L it should work ok.
