Johnson 150 starting issues

Hello to the group. I have a 1995 Johnson 150 hp that has been running very well until a day or so ago. It was idling along and suddenly stopped with no warning or sputtering. It would not re-start. There is fuel in the lines up to the carbs and is clean. Fuel filter replaced this year. Filter before the fuel pump clear.

Spark is present but is quite weak. A small amount of raw fuel placed directly into the cylinder with a small syringe will not fire the engine. Spark plugs new but appear to not be wet with fuel and smells more like oil than fuel.

Strangely, every once in awhile the motor will fire but will not run for more than a second or two possibly suggesting an intermittent problem.

It appears that the spark at the plugs is not hot enough to fire the fuel mixture.

Any thoughts are appreciated and thanks in advance for them.
