Any advice on adjusting Idle Mixture Adjustment screw? I have the manual that tells how to do it but it seems when I try it, it isn't as clear-cut as it is described in the manual (e.g. "engine fires unevenly or RPMs fall off")

Here are the instructions.
Turn idle screw COUNTERCLOCKWISE until engine fires unevenly (over-rich mixture)
Slowly, turn idle screw CLOCKWISE until engine fires evenly (and RPMs increase)
Continue to turn idle screw until RPMs fall off and engine misfires
Turn idle screw ¼ turn CLOCKWISE from lean-out position

If you turn screw counterclockwise (over-rich) do you stop turning as soon as the engine firing changes? Any advice on exactly how best to perform this procedure? (I will be doing it on the lake)

Thank you for any suggestions!!!

Yes as you have reached where it is on the verge of hanging.Count the number of 1/4 turns you make as you turn it in.Allow fifteen to twenty seconds to allow the alteration to take effect. When you reach the point of hanging, back it out half the number of turns you made and add one for luck.Do one carb at a time.Anchor the boat well.:D
