I need help. I'm trying to get my grandpas 6hp fisherman made around 73 running again. I have cleaned and rebuilt the carb. Checked coils plugs points and compression. I can't find anything wrong but it won't rev without the choke on. It will idle on start but once you try to add power it dies. Any ideas?
 
Did you remove the high speed jet that is found in the carburetor bowl ?-------It is screwed in horizontally behind the drain plug.--------Having to use the choke to keep it running clearly indicates a lack of fuel.

No actually I didn't. I didn't know it was there. Thanks for the tip. What's a good starting point for the metering rod?
