Stuck in forward-

When pulling LU to change water pump impeller, shift rod moved from neutral and now I am having trouble getting the gears to shift normally, that is the linkage is not lining up correctly.
Any help appreciated, 1997 Suzuki, 85 hp.

You have to pull the lower unit back down some and turn the shifter rod in the bottom of the Lu counter clockwise all the way I think and have your shift lever all the way fwd. if you start it and it's running back words turn that shift rod all the way clockwis with the shift lever fwd
