25hp upper crank bearing noisy

I just bought a 91 25hp outboard, I can hear a little noise coming from the upper crank bearing. I have mechanical experience just wondering how to replace that bearing. Do I have to split the case or with it just come out? Any suggestions would help.

Please specify precise model. You may have an M25C2 or older. the C2 is the oldest model we have a parts manual to cover (to determine the bearing you need). You will want to split the crankcase.

I believe it's the NS25C2, any special tool needed? Got any tips to look out for?

Ordinary mechanics tools... bearing puller maybe... pretty straightforward. Check the rod bearings for slop... you cannot reasonably change them, so if they are shot, it is uneconomical to repair :(
