Oil leaking

I have 1989 270hp inboard crusaders. I have oil dripping I think out of the rear main seal. Is there anyway to fix without pulling motor ? Anyway of checking if it is the seal? Could the back oil pan bolts be loose? If it is the rear main seal, could the seal just blow and I would lose a lot of oil??? Thanks Mike
 
There's no better way to change the rear main seal other than to remove the engine....

as far as verifying the source of the leak, they make a UV dye to add to the oil...using a black light, you trace the source.

Than pan bolts could be loose...the reality is the engine is 25 years old and could likely use a full refurb...
