2000 Evinrude 90 Ficht -Check Engine Warning Light on-no S.L.O.W- ideas?

Gotta get the code.....Hook it up to a laptop (yours, or a dealer's) and go from there.
There are probably a dozen things that can light the check engine light.

Thinking on this a bit more, if I were to guess....I would look at a "water in the fuel" problem.
Spin that fuel filter off and dump it out, checking for H2O.
