I have a tamd 41a, my v drive started to heat up today, I have a light that suppose to go out after 1200 rpm, but it didnt and started to over heat the v drive. It has plenty of oil in it, I dont have a diagram. Im not sure if it has a thermostat on it. and I'm not sure if it's being cooled by raw water? Can some one help?

Most marine gearboxes have an oil cooler. Look for a pair of oil lines running from the gearbox into the side of a (usually) round thing that is also connected by two large rubber pipes into the raw water side of your engine cooling. First thing would to be to pull the cooler and see how clean it is internally. They don't often give problems, but they are also an easy thing to check. Other option might be that your drive is slipping too much through low internal pressures and generating too much heat, but I don't know much about V drives to be sure if that could be correct.
