What gear oil can I run in my 87' cobra outdrive?

your favourite brand of 80W90 marine gear lube. but pay attention to the proper fill procedure. A half dozen guys come to these forums every year with $4000 worth of junk gears because they didn't fill it right.

i'm kinda worried now. I fired the boat up yesterday and idled with the garden hose. I didn't check the oil in the outdrive. The boat hasn't ran in 3 yrs. I had to do an engine transplant and yesterday was the 1st fire up.I sure hope I didn't fry those gears
