Storing trailer

I have Surge Brakes on my trailer. Does the storage guy have to hook up a battery to the connector so he can back up the trailer to its spot in storage or if he just goes slow and rises the trailer high enough so the hitch doesn't slide back. I don't think he ever hooks up a battery. He has been doing this for year so does he do any damage to the brakes?

If the brakes are not engaging with the slow reverse you are fine, you are not hurting anything. If the brakes start to engage that will cause the surge cylinder to activate more so you will need to stop and revers direction a bit to releave the lock up. I added a high pressure block valve from McMaster Carr to the line right behind my surge brakes, that allows me to do whatever I want without the brakes engaging, I just open the valve when I am heading out on the road
