3.0 runs in driveway not on water

I have a3.0later Merseyside IO. 1987. It will run for about 40 minutes then it dies and.won't restart. Just before it dies it starts missing . Compression hot and cold is in the 120s in all 4. Since this stared happening I have replaced the head, added a fuel water separator , and rebuilt the carb. I am at a lower see. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to with it from here?
 
When it wont restart;
Is there spark?
Is there fuel pressure?
Is the coil hot to the touch?
Points, condensor, cap, rotor all ok?
Engine temp when it dies?

If it will start and run until warm/hot then it sounds like something is failing when it gets hot. That pretty much makes it electrical or maybe fuel related.
At least that's where I'd be looking.
 
It sounds like fuel starvation at 40mins. Check your whole fuel system from the screen of the pickup tube in the tank, anti-siphon valve, fuel lines, fuel filters, fuel pump, to the carb! Nobody said it was gonna be an easy fix,,, ;)
 
Yes there is spark, new cap and rotor, coil is hot but tried a.New.one and same thing, temp when it dies is 140 or so. I haven't checked fuel pressure yet. Will check all the lines and tank. Thanks for all the help
