03 18 hp 4stroke wont crank with key

when I turn key to start I get beep noise from control box. but will start with pull rope and runs great but I get quiet beep in forward and reverse any help please.
 
check your electrical connections, I bet you have corrosion or bad connections not getting power where it needs to be,

either that or a short or bad wires in the wiring harness
 
Yep. Diagnose the start signal wire (green) to the solenoid. Also check the neutral safety switch.
