25hp j25elese Starter doesn't stay engaged

I have looked at alot of posts for this problem but have never seen a answer from someone who cured the problem. Motor turns over fine just only cranks a short period then gear drops down starter motor keeps running just gear wont stay up.
 
Try cleaning your battery terminals shin bright on both ends and have your battery load tested; may not be spinning fast enough to stay engaged. Good luck
 
The motor runs great but at no time will the starter stay engaged long than a few seconds. Battery and connections fine I have read alot of posts with this problem and read everyone saying check things that are fine but nobody ever says hey i found what it was. this may be an aftermarket starter that is made this way I am curious.
